My background spans business, storytelling, performance, and sharp-tongued sass. I remain a staunch defender of the Oxford comma.

I've also always been the person who wants to talk about the thing.

I don't just want to finish a book and give it stars. I want to know why the banter worked, where the foreshadowing started, whether that third-act breakup was actually necessary, and exactly what questionable decision made a fictional man everyone's new personality for the week.

The Smut Oracle grew out of that instinct.

What began as a place to talk about romance and help readers find books they'd genuinely love has become a community built around experiencing stories together. We read them. We analyze them. We argue lovingly about them. And sometimes we put on elaborate clothes, transform an entire room, and step inside them for the night.

Today, The Smut Oracle is home to the Smutty Book Club, long-form conversations through Conversations with the Oracle, immersive bookish events, curated recommendations, indie discoveries, and whatever other bookish rabbit hole we decide is worth following next.

And because apparently reading and talking about stories wasn't enough, I also perform them.

As Emily Wren, I'm a romance audiobook narrator and voice actor with a lifelong background in theater and a particular love for character-driven stories, sharp dialogue, emotional complexity, and the moments that make a listener sit in the driveway because they aren't ready to turn the book off yet.

Whether I'm behind a microphone, around a book club table, interviewing someone on camera, or standing in a ballroom full of readers in corsets, the throughline is the same:
