Bookish Events

Sometimes reading the book isn't enough. Sometimes you want to step inside it.

The Smut Oracle creates immersive events inspired by the stories, worlds, and communities we love.

These are not simply book discussions with better decorations. From themed literary gatherings to full-scale immersive experiences, each event is designed to take the feeling of a beloved story off the page and build an evening around it.

Think costumes worth planning weeks in advance. Beautiful spaces transformed for the occasion. Music, food, entertainment, interactive details, and the kind of moments that make a room full of readers collectively lose their minds.

Because sometimes fandom deserves somewhere to go.

What We Create

No two Smut Oracle events are exactly alike because the story should shape the experience.

Events may include:

  • immersive, themed literary experiences

  • balls, parties, and special celebrations

  • author appearances and conversations

  • live panels and bookish discussions

  • interactive entertainment and story-inspired details

  • collaborations with bookstores, venues, authors, artists, and other local businesses

Some gatherings are designed around a particular book or series. Others celebrate a genre, season, release, or shared piece of bookish culture.

What connects them is the intention behind them. The details matter. The atmosphere matters. And the people in the room are never an afterthought.

Come Play Pretend With Us

There is something wonderfully ridiculous about being an adult with a calendar, a mortgage, and responsibilities and still deciding that, yes, you absolutely need an excuse to wear the gown.

We agree.

The Smut Oracle's bookish events are built for readers who want more opportunities to gather, dress up, celebrate the stories they love, and spend an evening somewhere a little more magical than everyday life.

The Revelry Ball

A Regency Romance Masquerade

April 4, 2026 | HART Theatre | Waynesville, North Carolina

On one spring evening in Western North Carolina, we gathered the Ton.

The Revelry Ball was a fully immersive Regency romance masquerade created by The Smut Oracle and designed to give guests the chance to do more than admire a fictional world from afar. For one night, they got to step inside it.

HART Theatre was transformed into an evening of candlelight, corsets, masks, music, dinner, dancing, champagne, theatrical intrigue, and just enough scandal to keep things interesting.

Guests arrived in Regency-inspired and formal attire, assumed their chosen royal names, and became part of the evening's unfolding story. Immersive cast interactions and curated theatrical moments carried the experience throughout the night, culminating in the crowning of one guest as our Diamond of the Season.

An Evening in the Ton

The Revelry Ball included:

  • a fully transformed, Regency-inspired setting

  • dinner, dessert, champagne, and wine

  • dancing, music, and masquerade revelry

  • immersive characters and theatrical interactions

  • formal royal introductions

  • commemorative correspondence and curated guest gifts

  • premium VIP experiences, including a historic bed-and-breakfast stay, private afternoon tea, and professional garden portraits

  • the selection and crowning of the Diamond of the Season

Multiple ticket experiences allowed guests to choose how deeply they wanted to enter the world, from joining the Masquerade Assembly to spending the weekend immersed in the full Sovereign Suite experience.

More than anything, The Revelry Ball proved exactly why we create these events.

Readers spend hundreds of hours imagining fictional worlds. For one night, we got to live in one.

And we fully intend to do it again.

Let's Create Something

Have a book, world, venue, or wildly ambitious idea that deserves to become an experience?

The Smut Oracle is available for event collaborations ranging from author conversations, panels, and hosted literary gatherings to fully immersive, themed experiences built from the ground up.

I welcome inquiries from authors, publishers, bookstores, venues, festivals, brands, artists, and fellow creators interested in making bookish spaces a little more imaginative.

Bring me the seed of an idea or the whole elaborate vision. We can figure out what it wants to become.

Let's make something readers will talk about long after they go home.
